Service Description
Pilates is a type of exercise that lengthens and strengthens all major muscle groups of the body with an emphasis on core strength. Thus helping to improve posture, balance, co-ordination, flexibility and body awareness. Which in turn reduces the risk of injury, allowing you to carry out your day-to-day activities with more ease. At the beginning of the class there are gentle warm-up exercises which help to increase blood flow, improve range of motion and reduce the likelihood of any muscle tension or pain. The main phase of the class includes Classic Mat Pilates exercises that target specific areas of the body with controlled movements to help improve core muscle strength and spinal alignment. During each exercise the six fundamental principles of Pilates are adhered to: breathing; concentration; control; core-centring; precision and flow. At the end of the class there is a cooling down stage where the muscles that have been challenged are stretched, helping to increase flexibility, improve blood circulation, reduce the risk of injury and gradually slow down the heart rate so that you will feel more rested and relaxed.
