ABOUT ME

Intro

Hi, I'm Bryony and welcome to my website. I've been practicing Yoga and Pilates for 15 years, and by practicing daily it allows me to feel more light, spacious and free.
I'm did my 500 hour Teacher Training Diploma in Yoga with the Devon School of Yoga (DSY) where I learned a holistic approach to teaching yoga. By teaching in a holistic way, each student is treated as an individual and is encouraqed to listen to their inner teacher and discover their own unique yoga journey. I also have a YMCA Level 3 Teaching Diploma in Teaching Pilates.
The benefits of yoga and pilates are amazing. Both disciplines increase your strength both physically and mentally, improve your posture and balance thus reducing the risk of injury and allow you to connect to your highest self: the best version of you.
I teach Vinyasa yoga, Restorative yoga and Pilates classes in the South Glos area including Yate and Iron Acton.

Synchronise breath with movement

Vinyasa yoga is a style of yoga that is characterised by moving from one posture to another, whilst synchronising breath with movement. The Sanskrit word Vinyasa derives from the word vi which means "in a special way" and nyasa which translates as "to place." Therefore when practicing vinyasa yoga we move in a mindful and conscious way, connecting the mind, body and breath.

Unwind, relax, balance and heal

This class is designed to allow your body to deeply relax. Postures are held for a longer length of time with the aid of props such as straps, bolsters, blankets, blocks and eye pillows. By relaxing in this way we can achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation.

Benefits of restorative yoga include:

The class also includes a 30-minute guided deep relaxation, yoga nidra, to help you feel lighter, more relaxed and more at ease.

Tap in to your core strength

Pilates is a type of exercise that lengthens and strengthens all major muscle groups of the body with an emphasis on core strength. Thus helping to improve posture, balance, co-ordination, flexibility and body awareness. Which in turn reduces the risk of injury, allowing you to carry out your day-to-day activities with more ease.

At the beginning of the class there are gentle warm-up exercises which help to increase blood flow, improve range of motion and reduce the likelihood of any muscle tension or pain.

The main phase of the class includes Classic Mat Pilates exercises that target specific areas of the body with controlled movements to help improve core muscle strength and spinal alignment. During each exercise the six fundamental principles of Pilates are adhered to: breathing; concentration; control; core-centring; precision and flow.

At the end of the class there is a cooling down stage where the muscles that have been challenged are stretched, helping to increase flexibility, improve blood circulation, reduce the risk of injury and gradually slow down the heart rate so that you will feel more rested and relaxed.
